Activities
The Activities Department implements recreational activities that are designed to help restore a feeling of usefulness and will help to improve the residents’ quality of life while in our facility or by preparing the resident to reenter their home life. Our Activities room was completely remodeled recently into a spacious area for residents to come and participate in activities such as: games, crafting, cooking/baking, playing one of our numerous WII games, watching movies, reading a book from our library, sitting on our outside patio, or just plain relaxing. Our newly remodeled kitchen area is spacious with a gourmet coffee station with plenty of room if a resident would like to bake/cook. The activity area is open to our residents at any time of the day that they would like to participate in activities. Our main end dining room houses our weekly Bingo games and many of our Holiday parties. Each program and activity is listed on a monthly calendar that each resident has in their possession for easy reference. There are several trips outside of the facility scheduled on a monthly basis such as: color tours, orchard visits, picnics, fishing trips, monthly birthday parties, outdoor activities, shopping trips, and local events.
Resident council meets monthly to discuss resident concerns or suggestions. Calendar planning is also held monthly to discuss upcoming events and suggestions from residents.
There are games available throughout the facility in the various dining rooms and lounges for visitors to also play with residents. Individual sensory stimulation activities and small group activities are provided for the cognitively impaired with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
There is weekly Catholic Communion and monthly Protestant Communion available for any resident that would like to participate. Church services are also available weekly on Sunday given by local pastoral volunteers.
Questions regarding activity programs should be directed towards Teri Laba, Activity Director.
